Sam Champion’s Weather Channel show heads to Queens

It’s time, once again, to check in on Sam Champion’s Weather Channel show (7-10 a.m. weekdays), which is coming to Queens (Breezy Point) this week for a live telecast.

“AMHQ” is averaging 211,000 total viewers since its March 17 premiere — by comparison, Champion’s old show, “Good Morning America,” averaged 5.6 million viewers the week of May 12 — and is all over the ratings map.

It pulled a franchise-low 149,000 viewers the week of April 21, which shot up to a record high (348,000 viewers) just a week later. Go figure.

“AMHQ” and co-host Mike Bettes will visit Breezy Point — which was devastated by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 — for a “Hurricane Prep Rally” this Friday, May 30. Bettes will outline the path of Sandy’s destruction and take a look at the rebuilding effort there — offering tips for the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season, which begins June 1.

Speaking of ratings, Shareablee — a service which measures  prime-time TV shows in terms of their popularity on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram — has compiled some interesting data.

For the period covering April 24 through May 21, ABC led the way among the broadcast networks, with nearly 22 million “total actions” on the three social media sites (helped by shows including “Scandal,” starring Kerry Washington, and “Grey’s Anatomy”). NBC was second with 18 million, followed by Fox (13 million) and CBS (7 million).

ABC’s cable sister, ABC Family, also led the way on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram during that same timeframe — with 9.5 million “total actions” (27 percent), followed by AMC (6.6 million/19 percent) and Comedy Central (4.6 million/13 percent).
