Liu and Mike ‘wage’ war

John Liu and Mayor Bloomberg are at war again, this time over the comptroller’s insistence a private company doing work for the city pay its workers a prevailing wage.

Bloomberg is taking Liu to court over the comptroller’s determination that a company hired to repair water and sewer lines at a discounted rate must pay wages in line with a union-level rate set by the comptroller.

“The determination is the comptroller’s latest overture to the city’s labor unions, and if not reversed, will force the program to shut down and expose homeowners to thousands of dollars of home repairs if their water or sewer lines break,” a Bloomberg official told The Post.

Liu spokesman Scott Sieber shot back, “It’s a public-works contract subject to prevailing-wage requirements.”
