‘Dexter’ days are done

It looks like “Dexter” will continue his murder spree for just one more season.

CBS chief Les Moonves, who also oversees the network’s cable division, said the upcoming eighth season of Showtime’s “Dexter” will be its last.

“We have ‘Ray Donovan’ coming on with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with ‘Dexter’s’ last season starting in June, and then we have ‘Masters of Sex,’ ” Moonves told Wall Street analysts at a Monday conference in Palm Beach, Fla.

Moonves’ comment was surprising, considering that Showtime hasn’t officially said whether “Dexter” would end after its eighth season.

Michael C. Hall stars in “Dexter” as Dexter Morgan — a blood-spatter analyst who moonlights as a serial killer — and Jennifer Carpenter as his sister and boss, Debra Morgan.
