Mark Sanchez is going back to school.
According to a source, the Jets quarterback began working yesterday with former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia, who played under Marty Mornhinweg, the Jets’ new offensive coordinator, in San Francisco and Philadelphia.
The 26-year-old Sanchez, who suffered through a miserable 2012 season, is trying to resurrect his career and will spend his time with Garcia picking the former All-Pro’s brain about Mornhinweg and the intricacies of the West Coast offense.
With the Eagles in 2000, Garcia threw for a career-high 4,278 yards and 31 touchdowns while playing under Mornhinweg.
But before Jets fans get too excited, Sanchez tried a similar maneuver before last season when he worked out with ex-Jet and ex-Dolphin quarterback Chad Pennington in an attempt to familiarize himself with Tony Sparano’s offense.
How did that work out?
