If you’re going to rob a bank, better make sure you’re not standing next to a cop.

A man wanted for robbing a Tompkinsville bank Monday was busted when he tried to knock off a New Dorp bank yesterday — because an off-duty cop was at a window right next to him, law-enforcement sources said.

Edward Trifeletti, 35, allegedly passed a demand note to a teller and announced a robbery within earshot of the cop at a Chase branch on Hylan Boulevard.

Officer Richard Ocasio, who is assigned to the 120th Precinct on Staten Island, placed the crook under arrest at 11:10 a.m., cops said. After Trifeletti was charged with the heist, cops pinned the first robbery, too, on him.

On Monday he hit up a Northfield Bank on Bay Street and walked away with $1,550 in cash, law-enforcement sources said.

Trifeletti was charged with robbery and grand larceny.
