‘Duck Dynasty’ quacks the record

The show that single-handedly created comedy reality TV, “Duck Dynasty,” just shattered the ratings records for A&E.

The Season 3 opener this week averaged 8.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched program in the cable channel’s history — and the No. 2 show in all cable, after “The Walking Dead.”

TV industry publications were stuttering with shock at how popular the series has now become.

“Its 18-to-49 audience is up there with the night’s broadcast leaders, ‘Modern Family’ and ‘American Idol.’” wrote the TV Web site zap2it.com.

The show more than doubled its Season 2 premiere ratings.
