WASHINGTON — The Senate Energy Committee yesterday endorsed President Obama’s nomination of Sally Jewell as interior secretary, moving it to the Senate floor for a vote next month.
The 19-3 vote came after current Interior Secretary Ken Salazar agreed to review a decision to block construction of a gravel road through a wildlife refuge that would provide access to an all-weather airport in rural Alaska.
