Kelly ‘praying for miracle’ in cancer battle

Jim Kelly said he was starting radiation treatment Monday for his rare form of oral cancer and was “praying for a miracle” while attending Friday’s Knicks-Wizards game.

Sitting courtside with his wife and daughter, Kelly, the former Bills quarterback, told MSG Network, “We’ve had such a big outpour of prayers, which I definitely need, and support, not only from people in Western New York but from all over. It makes me feel relieved, so many people praying for me out there.

“My big battle starts Monday when I go and start my radiation chemo and I hope when it’s all over they get rid of it, but right now its, uh, we’re praying for a miracle.”

Kelly’s story became a national topic after his daughter tweeted a photo of him lying in his hospital bed recently.

“I feel sometimes good, sometimes bad, and I probably shouldnt even be here tonight but I brought my daughter with me, she made the Dean’s List so I had to give her a little surprise for what she did in school,” Kelly said.

“I’m very proud of her. I’ve been a Knicks fan forever but also a Miami Heat fan too, because you know going to school in Miami you get to know the guys.”
