Golf club ‘shafted’ for $270G

Ripping off the Rye Golf Club apparently doesn’t qualify for a mulligan.

The former manager of the city-owned but swank links was busted Tuesday in what the Westchester DA’s Office said was a long-running scheme that siphoned off more than $270,000.

Scott Yandrasevich, 49, of Danbury, Conn., allegedly set up a shell company called RM Staffing that billed the city for various services that were never performed at the club, which has operated at a loss since 2009.

Yandrasevich — who made $106,000 a year, plus a rent-free home on the grounds — quit his job in January amid an investigation commissioned by city officials into allegations of corruption.

A 17-page consultant’s report later concluded that Yandrasevich stole “many hundreds of thousands of dollars” since 2007, and used some of the money to buy two boats and a house for his mom in North Carolina.

About 20 percent of Rye residents belong to the club, which features an 18-hole course with views of Milton Harbor and the Long Island Sound, along with a heated, Olympic-sized swimming pool and a restaurant inside a former mansion known as Whitby Castle.

Annual membership costs up to $5,175 for city residents, and $9,200 for outsiders.

Yandrasevich was charged with second-degree grand larceny, which carries a maximum 15 years in the slammer. He was released after posting $10,000 bail.

The allegations against Yandrasevich figured prominently in the city’s recent election after Councilman and Mayor-elect Joe Sack campaigned against the club’s mismanagement.

Defense lawyer Kerry Lawrence said Yandrasevich was being scapegoated for political reasons, adding: “He definitely plans on defending the charges and establishing that he didn’t do anything wrong.”
