Butcher guilty – & poor juror needs a shrink

The Brooklyn carpenter who admitted to chopping his roommate into tiny pieces was convicted of murder yesterday by a panel of disgusted jurors who deliberated just 15 minutes before coming to a verdict.

Russian immigrant Sergey Mamonov, 51, was convicted of killing Aleksandr Zilbergleyt, 55, during a fight over rent and housekeeping last year. He used knives, clippers and even a meat grinder to dissect Zilbergleyt’s body in their Sheepshead Bay apartment.

“I’m going to see a shrink now,” said a horrified 62-year-old female juror.

“I didn’t sleep all of last night. This is the worst I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The prosecutor made the case for murder in her closing argument.

“Even though he did the best job anyone will ever see of trying to conceal the murder, in the end, it’s still murder,” said the assistant DA, Melissa Carvajal.

“There was no reason to destroy the body and throw the fingers in Sheepshead Bay if it was manslaughter,” said the jury foreman, a 50-year-old auto repairman.
