2 more EMTs in trouble

Two EMTs came under fire yesterday, one for robbing a patient and the other for scamming taxpayers, officials said.

Edgardo Collazo, 40, was arrested for swiping $300 from the purse of a woman who had accompanied her ailing sister to Montefiore Hospital, according to the city Department of Investigation.

Collazo — whose salary is about $48,000 — snatched the purse from a hospital restroom, took the cash and dumped the bag in a trash can, officials said.

The 14-year veteran had transported the sisters to the hospital in his ambulance, officials said.

He was suspended, and he resigned during the investigation, officials said.

And in a separate incident, EMS Lt. Jorge Blondett, 44, was paid for 24 days of “military leave” — but he was actually vacationing in Portugal or at home, officials said.

In 2011 and 2012, Blondett told his bosses he was on duty with the US Air Force Reserve, DOI officials said.

During one break, he had traveled to Philadelphia to catch a jet to Portugal, where he relaxed for about eight days, officials charge.

During another military leave, city investigators found Blondett at home.

Investigators say Blondett had been discharged from the Air Force Reserve in April 2011 and had not been called back since.

Blondett admitted to forging military orders in order to take time off, officials said.

The 13-year veteran lieutenant, whose salary was nearly $65,000, raked in $6,000 in unlawful paid leave from the FDNY.

Local and federal prosecutors are reviewing investigators’ findings to determine if Blondett will be charged with a crime.

Collazo faces up to three years in prison on charges of petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and official misconduct.

“Emergency medical personnel must ensure that their conduct never detracts from the trust the public places in them,” said DOI Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn.
