Animal Care and Control launches mobile adoption center

New York City pet lovers can adopt their next pooch without even visiting a shelter.

The city’s Animal Care and Control, with the help of the ASPCA, has launched their first mobile adoption center which will drive around the five boroughs to bring their cuddly creatures to a neighborhood near you.

“We’ve long had a need for our own mobile adoption center,” said Risa Weinstock, executive director of Animal Care and Control.

“I think shelter pets get a bad reputation. We want to get everybody adopted. We will bring the love to you.”

The mobile adoption van, which brings pets and potential pet parents together, was made possible with a $60,000 grant for the ASPCA and a $60,000 donation from Fenwick Keats real estate.

The van has 28 cages to showcase their adorable animals and will be stopping at locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens within the next few months.

“This is one more tool in our tool box,” said ASPCA President & CEO Matt Bershadker.

“Half the battle is getting people to the shelters. We are removing that barrier. It’s about the visibility of the animals.”

People looking to adopt an animal can spend time with a kittie or pup and take their new pet home the very same day.

Animals are spayed or neutered. Adoption fees range from $75 to $200.
