Manhattan

A man was assaulted in Greenwich Village for no apparent reason, cops said.

The 24-year-old victim was walking on West Fourth Street near Sixth Avenue Saturday at 12:40 a.m. when Jason Wren, 25, accosted him and sucker-punched him in the face, authorities said.

The victim was dazed and dropped to one knee.

The attacker and two pals who with him started laughing and walked away.

But the victim got up and bravely followed them to a nearby building as he dialed 911.

Cops busted Wren in the building.

The victim was released after treatment for an eye injury.

Wren, who is from New Jersey, was charged with assault. His friends were not charged.

Police said the attack was not a part of the recent series of “knockout game’’ assaults.


The suspect pictured burglarized an East Village apartment on Thursday, cops said.

He allegedly walked into the apartment on East 11th Street through an unlocked door and walked out with an expensive Tiffany key chain and a laptop computer.

Brooklyn

A 22-year-old delivery man was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Cypress Hills.

Elvis Batista-Francisco, who worked for Crown Fried Chicken, was on a delivery run at 2:40 a.m. at Arlington Avenue and Hyland Place Saturday, according to police.

That’s when a dark blue Nissan plowed into Batista-Fransico’s moped, cops said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.


A 16-year-old was shot in the leg walking home from a basketball game in Brownsville, cops said.

The victim was on Boyland and Bergen Streets around 7 p.m. Dec. 6, when the suspect fired a bullet into his right calf, cops said.

The teen was rushed to a hospital in stable condition and has since been released.

The suspect’s image (right) was captured on a nearby video-surveillance camera.

The motive for the shooting was unknown.

Staten Island

A 20-year-old man is dead and two others injured after a car crash in New Dorp, cops said.

Vincent Gagliardi was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra with two passengers at Todt Hill and Corners roads at 5 a.m. Saturday when he swerved out of his lane and struck a box truck, cops said.

The two passengers were listed in serious but stable condition at Staten Island University North Hospital.

Gagliardi was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.
