There has been no dialogue over the Olympic break between the Rangers and pending free agent defenseman Dan Girardi. Discussions and negotiations are expected to resume next week prior to the Blueshirts’ first practice session on Feb. 20.
Johan Hedberg has signed a PTO (professional tryout) with the Devils’ AHL Albany affiliate, but the veteran goaltender — who has been serving as a pro scout for New Jersey since his brief appearance at Rangers training camp on a PTO — is ineligible to play for the NHL squad this season after having been a compliance buyout of the club in July.
