Get your Flappy Bird fix with Sesame Street’s Flappy Bert

Forget about the other “Flappy Bird” copycats that have risen like phoenixes out of the ashes. It’s time to play “Flappy Bert.”

The people at Sesame Street, who have a knack of turning the latest internet meme into a Sesame Street video that goes viral, have created a clone of the hugely successful mobile game “Flappy Bird,” staring Bert.

While there is no sign of his best friend Ernie, Bert is aided by a blue bird grabbing his hair as you have to navigate them through that familiar and annoying network of pipes — just like with the original “Flappy Bird” that frustrated so many people before its creator Dong Nguyen  pulled it from the app store this week.

Unlike most of the “Flappy Bird” clones, this isn’t a mobile app. Flappy Bert is a free online game at SesameWorkshop.org.

Flappy Bert also has another advantage over some of the alternatives.

Security firm Sophos has reported several applications claiming to be Flappy Bird in third-party Android app marketplaces are actually malware that will infect the smartphones of those who download it.
