J.Lo-backed network confirms deal to buy Fuse

Jenny from the Block just expanded her media empire.

The NuvoTV cable network — backed by Bronx-born singer Jennifer Lopez — confirmed on Friday that it clinched a deal to buy the Fuse music channel from MSG.

The pop star and entrepreneur beat ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs in the bidding war for the channel.

J.Lo prevailed with a $226 million offer of cash and equity in SiTV, the parent of NuvoTV. MSG will get a 15 percent stake in the combined company, as well as a seat on the board, the companies said in a statement.

“Music is my first love so the acquisition of Fuse is near and dear to my heart,” said Lopez, who also serves as NuvoTV’s chief creative officer.

“It’s exciting that between NuvoTV and Fuse we’ll have the ability to deliver a broad array of terrific content both from a Latino perspective and across multiple genres, including music, to a broader audience,” she added.

NuvoTV said it plans to keep Fuse’s current street-front studio on Seventh Avenue across from Madison Square Garden.

Lopez, 44, owns a minority stake in NuvoTV, an English-language channel aimed at the Latino audience. With the Fuse deal, the LA-based channel will reach 74 million homes, up from 34 million.

Combs had hoped to combine Fuse with Revolt, his video music channel.
