Potential No. 1 pick Embiid to enter NBA draft: report

Kansas freshman center Joel Embiid will declare for the NBA draft in the coming days, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.

The 7-footer is a possible No. 1 pick in a loaded draft class. The latest mock draft from DraftExpress.com projects Embiid in the No. 2 spot, immediately after Kansas teammate Andrew Wiggins and one spot ahead of Duke’s Jabari Parker.

Embiid missed the Jayhawks’ two NCAA Tournament games last week — they were eliminated by Stanford in the Round of 32 — with a stress fracture in his back that likely will be discussed as a possible red flag as the draft nears.

The 20-year-old native of Cameroon only began playing high-level basketball at the age of 16 when he enrolled at a Florida prep school.
