CANSECO IN BORDER DRUG STOP

Former wildman slugger and admitted steroid user Jose Canseco was held by immigration authorities at the Mexican border for more than nine hours after agents allegedly found a prescription fertility drug on him, his lawyer said last night.

The ex-baseball star was stopped at San Diego’s San Ysidro crossing Thursday after agents allegedly spotted human chorionic gonadotropin – a fertility drug that helps produce testosterone – in his car, said attorney Gregory Emerson.

The drug is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency and is illegal without a prescription.

“Jose is really frustrated,” Emerson told The Post. “I think he’s angry. Rather than have a reason to subject him to a search and detention, they did it because it was Jose Canseco. And that’s not fair.”

Canseco wasn’t arrested or charged, but was ordered to appear in federal court Tuesday, Emerson said.

The former Oakland A’s star was released yesterday after immigration agents searched his home and turned up nothing, his lawyer said.
