Penn Station was shut for an hour yesterday because of a scare caused by a smoke grenade.
At 9:50 a.m., after an LIRR train pulled in, a cleaner found a knapsack in one of the cars. Inside, he saw a canister marked “grenade.”
MTA cops closed the station and determined it was a smoke grenade. It was removed for disposal.
