MCCAIN SLAMS OBAMA ON BASEBALL VIEWS

BENSALEM, PA. – John McCain threw a bean ball at Barack Obama today, accusing his Democratic rival of rooting for both the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series that starts today.

“I heard that Sen. Obama was showing some love for the Devil Rays down in Tampa yesterday. Now, I’m not dumb enough to get mixed up in a World Series between swing states, but I think I may have detected a little pattern with Sen. Obama,” McCain said at a manufacturing plant here deep in Philly country.

“It’s pretty simple really. When he’s campaigning in Philadelphia, he roots for the Phillies, and when he’s campaigning in Tampa Bay, he shows love to the Rays,” McCain quipped.

Obama’s camp fired back, saying, “I guess these are the kinds of attacks you make when your campaign has conceded that if you talk about the economy, you’ll lose. Senator Obama said he’s rooting for the Phillies. Yesterday, he said nice things about the members of the team who came out to support him, but that doesn’t change the fact that Tampa Bay bounced his White Sox out of the playoffs.”

Both candidates are fighting fiercely in Pennsylvania and Florida. Pennsylvania has 21 electoral votes and Florida has 27.

McCain then pivoted from the baseball analogy to whack Obama on taxes.

“It’s kind of like the way he campaigns on tax cuts, but then votes for tax increases after he’s elected. Or the way he says he backs the middle class and then goes and attacks Joe the Plumber after he’s asked a tough question,” McCain said.

Obama would boost taxes on people making more than $250,000 but provide tax breaks for all those making less.
