A Staten Island mom accused of killing her fire-marshal husband was so drunk after the shooting that statements she made to a EMS captain should be thrown out, her lawyer told a judge yesterday.
Janet Redmond-Mercereau, 38, polished off three “juice glasses” of Scotch at her neighbors’ after the Dec. 2 shooting.
Redmond-Mercereau then spoke of finding her hubby, Douglas, in bed with a bullet to the brain, Capt. Caroline Fiorianti testified at a pretrial hearing.
The captain asked the rattled 38-year-old mother of two what had happened to her husband, Douglas.
“She told me she had come out of the shower, walked into the bedroom to get something, saw a cellphone on the floor with blood on it, and looked up and saw that her husband was shot in the head,” Fiorianti said.
“When she did that, she made a motion of her two fingers up to her temple.”
Her lawyer, Mario Gallucci, argued her client was in no condition to speak to authorities.
