JETS: BETWEEN THE HASHMARKS

PLAY OF THE GAME

With the Jets up 10-0, the Rams were driving but Abram Elam came on a safety blitz and drilled Rams QB Marc Bulger. Bulger fumbled and LB Calvin Pace picked up and scooted 50 yards for a touchdown. The rout was on from there.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The Rams got taken behind the woodshed. We got our butts beat. That’s what happened.”

— Rams G Richie Incognito

BREAKDOWN

The tone was set with the opening drive, a balanced, powerful march that ended in a Thomas Jones TD. Jones, who rushed for 149 yards, would end up scoring three rushing TDs. From there, the defense completely took over, forcing five turnovers, four in the first half, and completely stifling the Rams. The Jets mixed in a lot of disguised blitzes and had Rams’ QB Marc Bulger’s head on a swivel.

UP NEXT

The biggest game the Jets have played in two years — a Thursday night showdown in Foxboro against the Patriots for sole possession of first place in the AFC. Both the Jets and Patriots are 6-3, but the Patriots have beaten the Jets once already this season.
