The Islanders, who will be without Kyle Okposo (hand injury) tonight when they bring a season-high, three-game winning streak to Newark against the Devils, called up Mitch Fritz from Bridgeport yesterday to take his place.
Fritz didn’t pick up a point in five games with the Isles earlier this year. And Joey MacDonald, who has played in all but one game since Rick DiPietro had knee surgery and was sidelined again, will now be backed up by Peter Mannino, whom the team also recalled from the Sound Tigers yesterday. Mannino will replace Yann Danis.
