THANKS, BOSS

* Now that he’s officially stepping down, it’s time for all Yankee fans to take the opportunity to reflect on just what George Steinbrenner has meant to us through the years (“The Boss Steps Down,” Editorial, Nov. 22).

As someone who suffered through the Horace Clarke-Jerry Kenney-Celerino Sanchez era, it’s not even the six World Championships that Steinbrenner brought to us that I appreciate the most – though, to be sure, they were sweet.

What I’ll always remember is one simple fact: The man tried his absolute hardest, year after year, to put the best team in baseball on the field for us.

No other owner of any team in any sport cared more about his fans than George did.

Boss, we love ya.
