OBAMA PLATES GIVE LI THIEVES LICENSE TO STEAL

A Long Island Obama supporter scored vanity license plates bearing his presidential hero’s name – now, if he could only use them.

Jonathan Lifschutz, 50, of Great Neck, got his “OBAMA” plates from the Department of Motor Vehicles three days after the Jan. 26 South Carolina primary, and they soon became the most sought-after in the state.

In fact, they were so sought-after that Lifschutz couldn’t keep them on his Saab – because would-be thieves tried prying them off.

Lifschutz – a one-time Hillary Rodham Clinton backer and donor – said he applied for the license plates after he saw former President Bill Clinton minimize Barack Obama‘s primary victory over Sen. Clinton in South Carolina. Kyle Murphy and Clemente Lisi
