ELEVATOR-DEATH ‘BLAME’

* The city Housing Authority is fingering poor maintenance for an elevator accident that took the life of a 5-year-old Brooklyn boy over the summer, sources said yesterday.

A Department of Buildings report says Jakob Neuman died as a result of a malfunction in the elevator’s door-opening system – allegedly caused by lax maintenance.

Jakob fell 10 stories down the elevator shaft.

“No one has all the information needed to objectively determine what happened,” said Housing Authority general counsel Ricardo Elias Morales, citing the ongoing criminal probe.

A Buildings Department spokesman declined comment.
