L’Oreal cosmetics heiress Liliane Bettencourt, France’s richest woman, yesterday said she would sever ties with her meddlesome daughter over a dispute involving a billion dollars in gifts to a society photographer.
Bettencourt, 86, threatened to slash her daughter’s share of the family’s $23 billion fortune, and insisted she is in control of her faculties, according to the Times of London.
At issue is a relationship between Bettencourt and 61-year-old photographer Francois-Marie Banier.
Bettencourt’s daughter, Francoise Bettencourt-Meyers, filed suit against the shutterbug, claiming he charmed her mother into parting with close to a billion dollars in life insurance and artworks.
Investigators are looking into the daughter’s allegations, and will decide whether to press charges against the photographer.
