SUMMER STREET PLAN HEATS UP

The winter chill hasn’t stopped the city from thinking about summer fun.

The Department of Transportation is considering bringing back the Summer Streets Program, which drew tens of thousands of people to walk, bike, and shop along a seven-mile stretch of Park Avenue that was closed to cars for three consecutive Saturdays.

Officials haven’t determined the 2009 dates or location yet.

The DOT sent out a request for proposals to promote the program late last month. The maximum contract amount is listed at $300,000.
