BLACK SUNDAY RECALLED

A fire lieutenant testified yesterday how he tried to help save six comrades, only to see them fall or jump from a burning building in the 2005 Black Sunday inferno.

“One member was hanging straight down from the window,” Lt. Kevin White said. “The other two were actually holding onto him. That’s when the first member dropped . . . and another man dropped. They continued to fall.”

Firefighters Curtis Meyran and John Bellew died in the plunge, resulting in manslaughter charges against the building manager and two tenants accused of putting up illegal partitions.
