A man was critically injured when he was run over by a subway train minutes after panicked onlookers begged a token clerk to shut off the power, sources said last night.
Ronald Melichar tumbled onto the downtown tracks at the 137th Street stop on the No. 1 line at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 4th, according to transit spokeswoman Deirdre Parker.
Witnesses ran to the station agent and warned her to kill the power. She said she did, but the train rumbled into the station, crushing Melichar. NYC Transit is investigating.
