CLEMENS PROBE DELAYED

Brian McNamee’s meeting with federal prosecutors investigating whether Roger Clemens lied to Congress has been delayed. The pitcher’s former personal trainer had been set to meet yesterday in Washington with prosecutors preparing the grand-jury case against the seven-time Cy Young Award winner, who denied under oath last year that he used illegal performance-enhancing drugs.

McNamee’s meeting likely will prepare him for giving grand-jury testimony, where McNamee will repeat his allegations that he injected Clemens more than a dozen times with steroids and HGH from 1998-2001. “It’s just not happening immediately,” Richard Emery, one of McNamee’s lawyers, said. “It will happen. It’s going to happen soon.”

McNamee last year provided government agents with syringes his lawyers said would link Clemens to drug use.
