A swank new condo on the edge of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park is really knocking ’em dead.
The recently completed, 15-story residential tower, One Grand Army Plaza, designed by architect Richard Meier, is posing a hazard to the area birds, and fowl watchers claim the building’s sleek, all-glass facade is to blame.
“An all-glass building adjacent to the park is a deathtrap for birds,” said Glenn Phillips, executive director of NYC Audubon.
“The design is a set-up. It’s putting huge, uninterrupted, solid panes of glass adjacent to a landscape, and that’s a recipe for disaster.”
