‘DON’T WORRY, DAD’

A drunken driver yesterday stole an idling car in Queens and struck and killed two pedestrians – including a brainy high-school football player whose last words to his adoring parents were, “You worry too much,” police sources said.

Robert Ogle, 16, and Alex Paul, 20, were crossing a street in Middle Village at 1:25 a.m. when the stolen Kia Spectra slammed into them, cops said.

Ogle, who died at the scene, was a junior at the elite Brooklyn Tech HS, where he played football and was on the debate team, his devastated parents said.

He was considering applying to West Point.

“He was just a very smart, likable, good-looking kid,” said the victim’s father, Brendan Ogle, 54. “He was the perfect son.”

Members of Paul’s family collapsed in tears on word of his death at Elmhurst Hospital. They declined to be interviewed.

Kenneth Guyear, 27, had allegedly stolen the Kia after its owner and two friends left it running when they went into the 24 Hour Deli and Grocery at Dry Harbor Road and Woodhaven Boulevard in Rego Park.

“My friend ran into the store yelling, ‘My car is gone!’ ” said Joe Guerrero, 26, one of the passengers.

Guyear hit Ogle and Paul at 80th Street between 62nd Avenue and Juniper Boulevard, police said. He sped off, but turned back toward the scene, police sources said.

He was arrested blocks from where Ogle lay dead. He was charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident and DWI.

Ogle’s parents said their son went out to a movie and a birthday party Saturday night. They asked him to make sure his cellphone was charged.

“I told him to tell us when he was coming and going, and he said, ‘You worry too much,’ ” Brendan Ogle said. “It’s unfathomable.”

The family had just bought a 47-inch flat-screen TV to watch the Super Bowl. Robert Ogle’s brother, Sean, 14, recalled that he and Robert had set up the TV in the basement together on Saturday.

Sean said it was too soon to start contemplating his loss.

“I’ve spent the whole day trying not to think about it,” he said.
