JET-DEBTOR ALEX PUTS PLANE ON MARKET FOR $20M

A jet that Alex Rodriguez co-owns is up for sale – after a turbulent year of lawsuits and racking up $376,000 in unpaid bills.

A-Rod and his pilot, Craig Frost, purchased the 1987 Gulfstream IV jet a little over a year ago for an undisclosed amount from Arik Kislin, a New York hotel operator whose family has been linked to the Russian mob.

They’re now asking $16 million to $20 million for the 14-passenger plane, which hit the market a month ago.

A-Rod and Frost registered ownership of the Gulfstream under the name Aviation Jets LLC – a holding company that owes money to an aircraft-services company and Kislin’s firm, according to court documents.

Skyplan Services Limited alleges Aviation Jets owes it $106,000 in overdue fees for catering, fueling and other services, according to a lawsuit filed in a Florida federal court Dec. 5.

The jaunts included trips to England, Switzerland and Poland during June and July.

Aviation Jets has also failed to comply with a settlement reached with Kislin’s company, Airlinx, in a Miami court in October. Under that settlement, Aviation Jets agreed to pay $419,000 to Airlinx for not making payments on a loan – obtained to help purchase A-Rod’s plane in September 2007 – for nearly a year.

The settlement was supposed to be satisfied by the end of January. However, Aviation Jets still owes $270,000, according to court documents.
