MTA TURNS ITS ‘EYES’ TO B’KLYN BUS ROUTE

The MTA has shifted camera-equipped buses from Manhattan to the crime-ridden Brooklyn route where a deranged passenger allegedly stabbed a driver to death, The Post has learned.

The agency beefed up security on buses coming out of the Flatbush depot, where B46 driver Edwin Thomas had been based, in direct response to his Dec. 1 murder, spokesman Paul Fleuranges confirmed.

The MTA would not say how many camera-equipped buses were dispatched to Brooklyn.

Drivers at the depot said they got the special buses, equipped with six to seven box- and dome-shaped cameras that view the inside and outside of the vehicle, soon after Thomas was killed allegedly for refusing a free transfer to passenger Horace Moore, a career criminal.

About 30 buses arrived at the Flatbush depot with cameras, said a garage worker who would give only his first name, Tito. That depot holds about 600 coaches, he said.

Drivers were glad to see the security improvement, even though one of their own had to pay with his life.

“I like knowing that if something happens, it’ll be recorded,” said a 10-year veteran who asked not to be identified.
