PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENT FALLS TO DEATH

Officials at the elite Upper East Side Dalton School sent students home early today after one of their classmates shockingly jumped to his death.

The 17-year-old junior, whose name was being withheld by The Post, apparently leapt through a window of the empty 11th Floor dance studio.

The 11 a.m. tragedy was witnessed by a group of fourth graders playing on East 89th Street, which had been closed for their recess.

School security guard, Michael Brown, said he quickly ushered the students inside.

The teen’s mother – who lives just a few blocks away – rushed to scene and broke down.

The student did not leave a note, police sources said, but investigators believed it was likely a suicide.

School officials declined to comment, but sent students home early and instructed them not to speak to reporters.
