GAME, SET, MATCH

Times are so tough that even tony Goshen, Conn., isn’t ready for a new state-of-the-art golf course.

Former top-ranked tennis pro turned golf dad Ivan Lendl had dreamed of turning his 450-plus-acre estate into a golf course. But that dream will be put on hold now that Lendl is unloading the property. The estate, listed at $25 million, is in contract.

The Czech-born Lendl’s property in Litchfield County includes a 43,000-square-foot stone house with 10 bedrooms, 12-plus baths and a lower level with an indoor pool, basketball court and gym in which the athletic Lendl family no doubt has spent a lot of time.

Lendl and his wife, Samantha, have five daughters – including three successful junior golfers.

The home also has an outdoor pool, pool house, caretaker’s house, horse stables, formal gardens and, of course, a tennis court.

We doubt, though, that the new owner is nearly as skilled on the court.

Despite famously never winning Wimbledon (no, capturing the boys’ singles championship doesn’t count), Lendl captured eight Grand Slam singles titles.
