A-ROID CALLS REPORTER WITH LATE A-POLOGY

TAMPA – For the second time in a week, Alex Rodriguez has apologized.

Last Monday, he said he was sorry for using a banned substance from 2001 to 2003 while with the Rangers. Yesterday, it was confirmed that he called to apologize to Sports Illustrated reporter Selena Roberts, who broke the story.

Talking to ESPN a week ago today, Rodriguez accused Roberts of stalking him, attempting to break into his house and trespassing. Rodriguez has told people he has police records of the events, but hasn’t made them public.

“I can confirm he did call to apologize,” Roberts said in the George M. Steinbrenner Field press box yesterday.

Roberts’ unflattering book on Rodriguez is due in stores on April 14, two days before the Yankees open the new Yankee Stadium. However, sources in the publishing world say that deadline may not be met.
