GOV’S LIVING A BIT LARGER

ALBANY – Expenses at the little-used Executive Mansion jumped 14 percent last year as Gov. Paterson replaced bed linens, bought new lawn furniture and replaced an inventory of 30 dozen wine glasses.

Paterson racked up $61,951 in household expenses in his first nine months in the state-funded homestead in Albany – compared to $54,107 by his predecessor Eliot Spitzer during a similar time frame, according to records released yesterday by the Office of General Services.

The Post requested the documents in November after it was revealed Paterson had spent nearly $38,000 on rugs, including a pair of Turkish area rugs.

The records show Paterson staff had about $20,000 in credit-card expenses.

Paterson officials pointed out that most expenses came before the governor declared a budget crisis and ordered agencies to slash unnecessary spending.
