INSURER GAVE 100G TO NY DEMS

AIG gave $100,000 to the New York state Democratic Party shortly before Gov. Paterson and the state insurance superintendent moved for its rescue, records reveal.

State campaign-finance records show the donation came into the state party’s coffers on Aug. 29, 2008 roughly two weeks before Insurance Superintendent Eric Dinallo jump-started meetings between federal officials and the insurance giant’s executives just when the Wall Street meltdown was beginning.

Democrats and AIG officials insisted there was no connection between the donation and the meeting.
