Pols, Prostitutes & Moms Who Raise ‘Em

***

I had to laugh at ” ‘Only in America’ ” (Sept. 2), which states that Ashley Dupre’s mom is shocked that Eliot Spitzer is eyeing a comeback.

Why wasn’t Carolyn Capalbo shocked that her daughter turned tricks?

Our only concern should be whether a politician does a good job. What politicians do in their personal lives is only for their wives to worry about.

If a husband does not go outside the marriage, he may be a good husband, but that doesn’t make him a better politician.

Spitzer should run for another type of award.

Undoubtedly, Client 9 would face stiff competition from Bill Clinton, David Paterson, Jim McGreevey, Mark Sanford and Vito Fossella.

Capalbo is showing where her daughter gets her good looks and class. She believes that Spitzer has no credibility, but she’s in the newspaper in a bikini.

Capalbo apparently believes that her daughter deserves a career in modeling or singing and that Spitzer should rot and hide forever.

Her daughter wasn’t raped or duped. Dupre was a prostitute, plain and simple.

Now it appears that both Dupre and her mother are going to be allowed to prostitute themselves in the newspaper, showing anger at this developement.

If Dupre deserves forgiveness and redemption, so does Spitzer. After all, he has paid the price. While the public perception of stripping and sex has changed over the years, don’t try to make this girl out to be innocent.

We know how some of our young ladies are acting today. We see it in our neighborhoods and in schools and on television. Dupre is no shrinking violet.

Apparently, Dupre’s mom would like someone else to pay for her daughter’s mistakes.

To those with short memories, the Spitzer administration was being investigated for concocting phony documents and planting stories in an attempt to frame Joe Bruno by making it appear he was using public resources for personal matters.

Once Spitzer resigned, the investigation, which was becoming little more than a Democratic Party whitewash, became moot.

Any attempt at a comeback must include a full accounting of Spitzer’s other acts of corruption.

To read the comments by Dupre’s mother, one would think that her daughter was 16 years old when she contracted with Spitzer for sex.

Dupre and the disgraced governor used and defiled each other, not to mention Mrs. Spitzer, the Spitzer children and the people of New York.

Where was Capalbo during her daughter’s character formation? Well-formed young adults don’t just decide to become hookers. Capalbo should contemplate that, instead of her faux outrage.

New York has Empire State-sized problems and doesn’t need another perennial Amy Fisher/Joey Buttafuoco saga. We need leadership from decent citizens who can be trusted.

Spitzer is yesterday’s man and needs to focus on rebuilding his credentials as a husband and father before he presumes to influence our lives.

Dupre and her mother should retire into dignified silence and work at rebuilding their lives, while New Yorkers work at seeking decent men and women to rebuild our political infrastructure.

The sooner, the better.

These are prerequisites of being in political office in America: lie, cheat, steal from the taxpayers every chance you get and maybe even kill someone to advance your political shenanigans.

Knowing the idiots in New York, this troll will probably be elected again.

New York has the most corrupt government in history.
