Plane makes emergency landing at Reagan airport in DC

A Continental Express passenger plane made an emergency landing Saturday afternoon at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C. after smoke was detected in the cabin.

The plane took off from New Jersey, and landed at Reagan at approximately 2:50 p.m. ET. Dogs were used to search the plane after passengers were deplaned on the tarmac.

An airport employee said the smoke was caused by a maintenance issue and terrorism was not suspected.
