THIS very competitive, specialized school has long been the holy grail for the city’s brightest students. All are accepted to college; one-third End up going to the Ivy Leagues. A variety of challenging traditional and seminar courses are offered, from Japanese to Great Books to Multivariate Calculus. Independent research is valued — the school has had 40 Intel semifinalists, six finalists and one winner over the last five years, including two finalists last year. It won 31 medals at the Science Olympiad last year, leading the field. Sports and clubs are active at the school, with champs in boys and girls fencing in 2008-2009. Alums — known for large donations — include Nobel laureates and Fields Medal winners.
