HIGHLY competitive specialized school focusing on college prep, math, science, computers and engineering. One of the smaller specialized schools, it has state-of-the-art labs, and was the only NYC public school with an Intel finalist in 2007. It finished first in the Staten Island Academic Olympics in 2009, and had a 100% graduation rate. In 2008, the class average was 97, and students earned $17.25 million in scholarships, with three National Merit finalists and 81% making the National Honor Society. In all subjects except physics, more than 66% of students passed the Regents with an 85 or higher. Russian is the only language offered, and is required for three years, with AP Russian in senior year. A Russian exchange program is offered. Engineering is also offered for three years. Many innovative electives, including technical drawing and biotechnology and molecular sciences, are offered. Active sports and clubs. Named the 32nd best school in the country by US News World Report.
