Tiger’s wife stays faithful by standing by his sponsor

Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin, sent a clear signal yesterday she’s standing by her man — decking herself out head to toe in Nike wear.

On the eve of her serial cheater husband’s mea culpa, the Swedish stunner wore the corporate swoosh on a white do-rag, hoodie sweatshirt and sneakers as she pranced in front of photographers in Florida while picking up her daughter from school.

Her nod to Nike — the company loyally backing her philandering hubby — came the day before Tiger’s carefully orchestrated press event, which is being held at the same time as a tournament sponsored by Accenture — the first major company to dump him.

Several rival golfers have called the move poorly timed and selfish.

But PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, in a letter to the PGA Tour policy board and other officials, said, “Tiger’s therapy called for a week’s break at this time . . . There was very little flexibility in the date for the announcement.”

Tiger has been undergoing sex-addiction therapy in Mississippi.

Finchem had already inadvertently confirmed the therapy sessions while answering a question following the golfer’s announcement Wednesday that he was going to meet the press.

“I don’t know what his plans are in terms of what he’s going to say,” Finchem said at the time. “I don’t know what he’s going to do after he finishes his rehab . . .”

Tiger’s relaunch began that day when he ended nearly three months of ducking the media by jogging in his gated Florida community so he could be photographed by a lensman from the Getty agency.

Getty had previously been handpicked by Woods, 34, to shoot intimate family moments, and the agency recently signed a deal with the Professional Golfers Association Tour — which is hosting Woods’ invitation-only reappearance.

Nike, which provides the golf clubs for Woods, told OK! Magazine that it will gladly continue paying him to be a sponsor even though he cruelly betrayed Elin Nordegren by sleeping with more than a dozen porn stars, prostitutes, party girls and other pulchritudinous pals.

“Nike fully supports Tiger and his family through this difficult time,” a company spokesman told the magazine. “We respect his privacy. We look forward to him returning to golf.”

But reporters yesterday were steaming over the media-hating Tiger’s refusal to allow more than a handful of carefully selected journalists to attend his press confab at PGA Tour headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., where several friends, colleagues and associates also will be on hand for moral support.

Woods is refusing to take any questions after he gives a five-minute statement at about 11 a.m. at the TPC Sawgrass Golf Course.

The Golf Writers Association of America’s board voted yesterday not to participate as pool reporters when Woods makes his first public statement since the sex scandal broke.

“The position, simply put, is all or none. . . . To limit the ability of journalists to attend, listen, see and question Woods goes against the grain of everything we believe.”

The event is being covered by the Associated Press, Reuters and Bloomberg.

Jaimee Grubbs, one of the many women who have admitted to affairs with Woods, told the TV show “Inside Edition” last night, “I would like him to make an apology for everything he has done.”

Grubbs, still angry to have learned there were lots more women with whom Woods was cheating, said, “For him to make this statement . . . is a big deal. I think he is a person that does like to just go into hiding and hope it blows over.

“He’s got a lot riding on everything,” she said. “Without him making a statement, he can’t move forward . . . He’s not going to get those endorsements without being a strong role-model figure admitting and kind of humbling himself and saying, ‘I do make mistakes.’ ”

It remains to be seen whether Elin will be by his side. RadarOnline.com reported yesterday she will be a no-show.

However, the two were spotted leaving the family home near Orlando yesterday evening in separate cars and driving to a nearby development where Elin is renting a place.

Earlier, Tiger was seen hitting golf balls near his home.
