JetBlue flight lands safely after pilots targeted with laser

A JetBlue flight from LaGuardia to Palm Beach landed safely in Florida on Monday night after a laser pointer nearly blinded the pilots, officials said.

The dangerous stunt happened at about 8 p.m. as the plane approached Palm Beach International Airport, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

An initial search of grounds near the runway didn’t locate a culprit, wielding a green laser pointer.

“Thankfully they were able to land the jet safely,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “There has been an ongoing problem with the misuse of a green laser that has been pointed into the cockpits of aircrafts landing at PBIA.”
