Revis lobbies Ochocinco for Jets: report

Darrelle Revis doesn’t want to cover Chad Ochocinco anymore.

“I want Chad to come here and play for us, to be a Jet,” Revis told New York Metro leading up to the Super Bowl. “I’ve been in his ear a lot about it this week. … I think he could do well here. I’ve been telling him to come here.”

The Jets could be in the market for wide receivers, with Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Brad Smith heading toward free agency in an uncertain NFL labor climate.

Ochocinco is currently with the Bengals but reportedly looking for a way out of Cincinnati. He reportedly thought about returning to his former surname Johnson but changed his mind back.

Revis and Johnson often correspond on Twitter, and the Jets cornerback wore an OCNN T-shirt — for Ochocinco News Network — during Super Bowl Week in Texas.

Ochocinco, who last month expressed a desire to play for Rex Ryan, did not comment on it while in Texas.

“I cannot speak about that right now,” Ochocinco told New York Metro.

He and Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis seemingly are at odds. The team replaced offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski this offseason.

“I’m under contract as a Bengal, and I always will be until (owner) Mike Brown or anyone else says, ‘Your services are no longer needed here.’ Period,” Ochocinco told NFL.com last month.

Ochocinco is under contract with the Bengals through next season, so he would have to be cut or traded to join the Jets. He also has said he wants to join the Patriots.

At last year’s Pro Bowl, reports said Revis had similar conversations with Raiders cornerback Nnmadi Asomugha, who is now a free agent.

Revis this offseason also said he would like free agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie to stay with the Jets.
