Even the term “girlfriend getaway” sounds fatally boring, and in practice, they’re even more so. Spa this, spa that, mostly — seems to be the only thing the industry thinks you want. Or wants you to want. C’mon, XX-chromosomers, take it up a notch. Why not, say, conquer a volcano or two? Time was, you’d be thrown into them to appease the gods, for crying out loud.
