Nation hails lame ducks

More than three-quarters of Americans gave the lame-duck Congress high marks for working together last month after nearly two years of hard-headed partisan battles, a new ABC/Yahoo News poll found.

The votes to extend tax cuts and unemployment benefits as well as long-sought approval of health benefits for 9/11 first responders won the approval of 77 percent of Americans, the poll found.

Among Democrats, the approval rating was 91 percent. Independents, to the tune of 79 percent, approved. And 62 percent of Republicans were happy.
