PSAL girls basketball roundup: Scholars wins 15th straight game

Becky Moers had 17 points and Taylor Gallagher had 16 points to lead Scholars Academy to a 74-42 win over Flushing in non-league girls basketball Friday in Rockaway.

Kristin Dchiutiis had 14 points and Jessica Glaz added 10 for Scholars (15-1), which has won 15 straight. The Seawolves are 5-1 in non-league games, the only loss coming to Forest Hills in their season opener, a defeat they have since avenged. All five non-league victories have come against ‘A’ teams. Scholars Academy plays in PSAL Queens B East.

Mater Dei (Calif.) 85, Murry Bergtraum 45: Cori Coleman had 19 points and Monae Abrams had 12 points for Bergtraum (10-3) at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. UConn-bound guard Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, the consensus top senior in the country, had 17 points for Mater Dei (16-1), which began the season ranked No. 1 nationally by USA Today and has four senior Division I commits.

Francis Lewis 70, Madison 34: Tyese Purvis had 13 points and six rebounds, Jasmine Davis had 12 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists and Theo Alexandrou had eight points and seven assists for Lewis (9-4, 8-1 Queens AA). Jazmine Hamlet had 11 points and Kristyl Rodriguez added nine points on three 3-pointers. Madison is 1-6 in Brooklyn AA Group 1.

Lincoln 63, Cardozo 34: Shaquella Figueroa had 24 points, Erica Juarbe had 12 points, Simone Roberts had 11 and Mioja White added 10 for Lincoln (8-4, 5-3 Brooklyn AA Group 1). Roberts had 15 assists and nine rebounds and Juarbe had 10 rebounds. Cardozo is 2-6 in Queens AA.


Banneker 66, Boys & Girls 47: Diara Adger had 17 points and Africa Williams had 16 points to lead Banneker (9-6, 6-4 Brooklyn AA Group 2). Boys & Girls is 2-7.

West 50th Street Campus 50, School of the Future 28: Nia Robinson had 13 points and Caleitha Berry had 12 points to lead West 50th Street (8-2 Manhattan A West). School of the Future is 5-3 in Manhattan A South.

Edison 46, Van Buren 37: Alexi Bove Domenech had 31 points and 31 rebounds to lead Edison (13-3, 7-3 Queens A East). Ashley Todd had seven points, 10 rebounds and five assists, Kirtesha Challenger had eight rebounds and Zariya Cox added nine rebounds. Van Buren is 3-8.

Environmental Studies 49, Economics & Finance 12: Alexa Corteza had 12 points to lead Environmental Studies (6-6 Manhattan A West). Economics & Finance is 0-10 in Manhattan A South.

Manhattan Village Academy 59, Institute for Collaborative Education 32: Nubia Haynes had 28 points, Wyllaesha Adams had 14 points and Grace Geist added 10 for Manhattan Village (8-3 Manhattan B West). ICE is 1-10 in Manhattan B South.

Thurgood Marshall 40, Fashion Industries 29: Shaniqua Lindsey had 18 points and Kadijah Woods had 10 points to lead TMA (1-10 Manhattan A West). Fashion is 1-10 in Manhattan A South.
